Counselling

About the role
You provide professional counselling for MINDEF/SAF personnel faced with mental health, psycho-social and substance abuse/addiction-related issues.

 

What you will be working on

  • Conduct assessments and implement intervention plans
  • Collaborate with stakeholders for holistic counselling services
  • Respond to operational duties such as manning the 24-hour SAF Counselling Hotline and facilitating critical incident stress debriefings for MINDEF/SAF servicemen involved in critical incidents
  • Research counselling-related trends
  • Train commanders and managers in counselling matters

 

Challenge(s)

  • Upholding standards in professional counselling/psychotherapy, and effectively assessing and managing service personnel referred for care and support
  • Having an adequate knowledge of community resources that so to help servicemen leverage on available resources in the community

 

What we are looking for

  • Education in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • A registered practitioner with the Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers, Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling, or Singapore Psychological Society
