You provide professional counselling for MINDEF/SAF personnel faced with mental health, psycho-social and substance abuse/addiction-related issues. Your main tasks involve assessment, implementation of intervention plans and collaboration with other stakeholders to provide holistic counselling services to these personnel. Additionally, you respond to operational duties such as manning the 24-hour SAF Counselling Hotline and facilitating critical incident stress debriefings for MINDEF/SAF servicemen involved in critical incidents. You also conduct research on current and future counselling-related trends, and train MINDEF/SAF commanders and managers in counselling-related issues.
You must have a tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology or social work, with at least 2 to 3 years’ relevant work experience. You should also preferably be a registered practitioner with the Singapore Association for Counselling, Singapore Association of Social Workers, Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling, or Singapore Psychological Society.
