On 15 Jan 2022, our Endurance-class Landing Ship Tank RSS Endeavour met and conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Brunei Navy's (RBN) Darussalam-class Offshore Patrol Vessel KDB Daruttaqwa.
Both ships conducted a series of communication and manoeuvring exercise serials for the PASSEX, which was conducted in waters off Brunei.
The Officer-of-the-Watch on board RSS Endeavour monitoring KDB Daruttaqwa during the manoeuvring exercise (MANEX) serial. These serials require both ships' Officer-of-the-Watch to execute manoeuvres sharply and precisely and is an excellent opportunity to hone young officers’ ship-handling skills.
(All sailing personnel had been isolated and tested negative for COVID-19 prior to the deployment.)
Our Communication Systems Experts hard at work during the Publication Exercise (PUBEX) serial! They refer to commonly-used publications that lists out various instructions and messages into concise 'codes' that comprise a few letters and numbers.
This PASSEX is part of the regular interactions that we conduct with the RBN. Through these bilateral trainings and engagements, we are able to build on our mutual understanding and cooperation, even amidst the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
