It's a wrap! Our Chief of Navy RADM Aaron Beng and the Royal Australian Navy's Chief of Navy VADM Michael Noonan closed Exercise SINGAROO over a video conference. Here's a look at what happened during the 25th anniversary of the exercise that was held from 26-28 Sep 2020.
Our Chief of Navy RADM Aaron Beng and Fleet Commander RADM Saw Shi Tat met their counterparts over a video conference today. Together with the RAN’s Chief of Navy VADM Michael Noonan and Fleet Commander RADM Jonathan Mead, they closed the 3-day Exercise SINGAROO, that was conducted in the South China Sea.
During the video conference, the navy chiefs also reaffirmed our close and long-standing ties, built through professional interactions and personal friendships.
During the 25th anniversary of the exercise, the RSN participated with largest range of assets to date. The exercise at sea saw the participation of four ships from three different classes – our Formidable-class frigate RSS Tenacious, Independence-class littoral mission vessel (LMV) RSS Dauntless, two Victory-class missile corvettes, RSS Valiant and RSS Valour – and a submarine. The exercise was also supported by the RSAF's F-50 maritime patrol aircraft and F-16 fighters. The RAN deployed a Hobart-class destroyer HMAS Hobart and a replenishment oiler HMAS Sirius. This is the first time that the RSN's LMV and the RAN's Air Warfare Destroyer is participating in the exercise.
