Strengthening Maritime Cooperation at the 19th Western Pacific Naval Symposium

Our Chief of Navy Rear Admiral (RADM) Sean Wat, together with Head of Naval Operations RADM Augustine Lim, attended the 19th Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) in Qingdao, China from 21 to 25 Apr 24.

While in Qingdao, RADM Wat (left) met with People's Liberation Army (Navy) Commander VADM Hu Zhongming (right).

RADM Wat and RADM Lim also met their counterparts and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relationships, increase engagement, and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

 

The 19th WPNS was attended by navy chiefs and senior naval representatives from 29 nations where the delegates voiced support for international laws such as the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), as well as discussed initiatives to enhance cooperation, including refinements to the Code of Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES).

The Singapore delegation also joined the 75th Anniversary commeration of the People's Liberation Army (Navy).
