Malaysian Minister for Defence calls on Minister for Defence

 

 

Malaysian Minister of Defence Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is in Singapore to attend the 21st Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) and the 12th Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) Defence Ministers' Meeting. Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen this afternoon at the Shangri-La Hotel.

During the meeting, both Ministers reaffirmed the warm and long-standing bilateral defence relations and discussed cooperation between Singapore and Malaysia in regional multilateral platforms, such as the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM), ADMM-Plus and the FPDA. The Defence Ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutual trust and understanding between both defence establishments.

Singapore and Malaysia's defence establishments interact regularly across a wide range of activities, including bilateral and multilateral exercises, visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of courses. Dr Ng and Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin last met in Malaysia at the 18th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference on 6 May 2024 and in Germany on the side-lines of the 60th Munich Security Conference on 17 Feb 2024. Such interactions underscore the warm and longstanding defence relations between the two countries, and deepen mutual understanding and trust between both defence establishments.

Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is in Singapore with a delegation of senior Malaysian officials. As part of his visit, Dato' Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin will be calling on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.
