Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen hosted a virtual function for participating organisations, sponsors and key appointment holders of the National Day Parade (NDP) 2020 organising committee in recognition of their support and contributions towards this year's NDP. This year, 22 Gold award recipients, 51 Principal Partners, 22 Major Partners and 176 Co-Partners were recognised at the virtual function for their hard work and dedication. An additional 374 Silver awards were given separately to recognise their contributions in making NDP2020 possible in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NDP2020's theme, "Together, A Stronger Singapore", focuses on rallying Singaporeans as one people to weather through our challenges. In his speech, Dr Ng thanked all who came together to make NDP2020 a safe and successful event. Dr Ng said, "I am glad that Singaporeans chose during NDP2020 to come together to celebrate our unity, our resolve and resilience as one people…They waved their flags vigorously and cheered through their masks…NDP2020 uplifted Singaporeans to rise above present difficulties, and to forge ahead with the assurance that we will surmount each challenge taking care of one another."

Speaking on next year's NDP, Dr Ng said that NDP 2021 could be held at The Float @ Marina Bay, dependent on the prevailing situation. He added that even if the COVID-19 pandemic persists, "[he is] certain that NDP 2021 will carry on, just as we did this year. Singaporeans have proven through NDP2020 that how we celebrate NDP each year is a matter of choice, and we choose to celebrate NDP, come rain or shine, virus or no virus. Each year's NDP celebration is that annual reminder to ourselves and to the World that this little red dot is determined to shine, no matter the difficulties that come our way."

Guests at the virtual appreciation function included Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Melvyn Ong, Chief of Army Major-General Goh Si Hou, senior officers from various partner agencies and NDP2020 Executive Committee members.
