Chief of Army of the Malaysian Armed Forces Makes Introductory Visit to Singapore

The Chief of Army of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan called on Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) this morning. During their meeting, SMS Zaqy and GEN Hafizuddeain reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong ties between the Singapore Army and Malaysian Army, and discussed ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between both Armies.

GEN Hafizuddeain, who is in Singapore from 22 to 24 July 2024 for his introductory visit, also called on Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng and Chief of Army Major-General David Neo, after inspecting the Guard of Honour at MINDEF. GEN Hafizuddeain visited the SAF Commandos at Pasir Ris Camp, where he observed demonstrations of Close-Quarter Combat (CQB) and Parachute Drills at the Airborne-Trooper Training Facility. He was also given an experiential ride on the Light Strike Vehicle Mark II, and participated in an experiential shoot with the HK416 Assault Rifle using the Man Marking Rounds. During the visit, GEN Hafizuddeain also exchanged parachutist wings with Major-General Neo.

GEN Hafizuddeain's visit underscores the warm and long-standing bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. The Singapore Army and the Malaysian Army cooperate and interact regularly through the conduct of exercises such as the annual bilateral Exercise Semangat Bersatu (XSB), high-level visits, professional exchanges, and cross-attendance of professional courses. These regular interactions have enhanced mutual understanding and professional ties between the personnel of both armies.
