Recipients of The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Scholarship

Introduced in 1971, The SAF Scholarship, formerly known as SAF Overseas Scholarship (SAFOS), is a prestigious scholarship second only to the President's Scholarship. There are 308 SAFOS recipients to date.

Past SAF scholars include Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, Teo Chee Hean, Minister in Prime Minister's Office, Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Social and Family Development, Brigadier-General (NS) Tan Chuan-Jin, Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) and Second Permanent Secretary (Health), Major-General (NS) Ng Chee Khern, Chief of Army, Major-General Perry Lim, CEO of National Environment Agency, Tay Ronnie and CEO of Central Provident Fund Board, Ng Chee Peng.

The SAF Merit Scholarship (SMS) is awarded to individuals with academic excellence and dynamic leadership qualities. There are 408 SMS recipients to date.

Past SAF Merit Scholarship award holders include Chief of Air Force, Major-General Hoo Cher Mou and former Chief of Army, Major-General Ravinder Singh.
