The TD 2016 Exhibition features stories and interactive exhibits that explore how we can, as one people, overcome the threats and challenges that Singapore may face in the future. The Exhibition will take place at the Marketplace within the "Future of Us" exhibition at Gardens by the Bay until 18 February, while a similar showcase packed with activities for students and featuring stage plays will be held at the S'pore Discovery Centre until 19 March. Admission is free.
The TD 2016 Exhibition is divided into three main sections, bringing visitors on a journey to (i) reflect deeply on the threats and challenges of the future that will test our strength, (ii) be inspired by stories of individuals and groups who have played their part in keeping Singapore strong for these future threats, and (iii) commit personally to keeping Singapore strong.
Section 1: Are we strong enough?
This introductory section of the exhibition prompts visitors to explore "hard truths" about the future of threat - highlighting challenges and difficulties that we will continue to face as a small sovereign city state set in this region. Using thought-provoking questions, we present the unpredictable nature of the future as the realm of the unknown.
Section 2: What does strength look like?
Reviewing the key highlights of 2015, we showcase personal and agency-based stories of how Singaporeans came together to overcome challenges and crisis, as well as prepare for the threats of the future.
Visitors would leave this section feeling inspired by the inner strength and fortitude of Singaporeans, and be confident that we can overcome all odds if we stand together.
Section 3: How can we keep Singapore strong?
This final section imagines how Singaporeans can come together for Total Defence and invites visitors to respond. They will hear what some people say about how they will respond to potential future threat scenarios and be invited to respond and make personal commitments towards keeping Singapore special, safe and secure.
Visitors would leave this section realising that individuals have the power to make a difference and help Singapore survive and succeed in our future.
