Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen hosted a dinner for 165 key appointment holders of the National Day Parade (NDP) 2015 organising committee, participating organisations, and sponsors in recognition of their support and contributions towards NDP 2015. During the dinner, Dr Ng presented certificates of appreciation to the Gold award recipients to thank them for their hard work and dedication. There are 201 recipients of the Gold award this year.

In his speech, Dr Ng highlighted that the parade allowed Singaporeans to come together and celebrate the progress Singapore has made. He added that the successful parade was the result of the hard work, support and commitment of key appointment holders, participating organisations and sponsors. Dr Ng said, "I know that there were many participants and many people who put in many hours and sacrifices. Many of you who are seated here played a big part in it, without which, the NDP would not have been a success."

This year's NDP theme, "Majulah Singapura", also celebrated and recognised the contributions of our pioneers. It called on Singaporeans to reflect on our achievements and work collectively to play a part in shaping the future of our nation. Held at the historic venue of the Padang, this year's parade featured an Aerial Display of 50 aircraft, a 179-vehicle Mobile Column and a Vintage Parade segment where pioneer members of the Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force marched past the Padang. Altogether, over 2,000 participants from the uniformed services, businesses and community groups formed 37 marching contingents for the parade. 

Chief of Defence Force Major-General Perry Lim will present the Silver Awards at a separate dinner later this week. There are 612 Silver award recipients this year.
