Theme & Logo
The theme for this year's National Day Parade (NDP) is "Majulah Singapura". Taken from our national anthem, Majulah Singapura (Onward Singapore!), the theme calls on Singaporeans to reflect on what we have achieved over the last 50 years and anticipate our bright future together as one Singapore.
Key Highlights of NDP 2015
The Parade will return to a historic venue, the Padang, to celebrate Singapore's Golden Jubilee.
To allow for more Singaporeans to be part of the Parade at the Padang, celebrations will be extended to various sites around the Marina Bay area. This includes the Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza, The Promontory, Merlion Park, Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay, where 'LIVE' streaming of the Parade will be broadcast on LED screens. Spectators at these celebration sites will also be able to witness the Presidential 21-Gun Salute, as well as the aerial and naval displays.
In addition to the Padang that seats 26,000 spectators, The Float @ Marina Bay will be a ticketed venue that will seat another 25,000 spectators. Overall, a total of over 200,000 people would be able to take part in the NDP celebrations during the NDP Preview and on 9 August itself.
This year, there will be one integrated Show, combining traditional crowd favourites like the Parade and Ceremony, Aerial and Naval Displays, and Mobile Column to bring together a spectacular mass display with song and dance. The Show will recount our nation's journey since independence to recognise the contributions of our pioneers in nation-building.
Key highlights include (i) the Vintage Parade, which will re-enact segments of the street parades that took place in the early 1970s; (ii) the Aerial Display, with the Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF) salute to the nation, comprising the Black Knights performing a bomb-burst and RSAF assets in a "50" formation flypast; and (iii) the Mobile Column, showing the strength of the Singapore Armed Forces, the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force and how they are ready and capable to safeguard the defence and security of our nation at all times.
This year, every Singaporean and PR household will receive its own funpack. The funpack will comprise items reminiscent of our early years, such as capteh and snacks from our schooling days, as well as interactive parade items. The NDP 2015 EXCO will be partnering the People's Association for the distribution of funpacks. Members of the public will also have an opportunity to "pay it forward" by being involved in the packing of a funpack for another Singaporean household.
