Fact Sheet: About N.E.mation! 8

N.E.mation! is an annual digital animation competition organised by Nexus which encourages students to express their thoughts on Total Defence through one-minute animation clips. This year's theme, "Because You Played A Part", called for participants to develop stories on how Singaporeans have played a part in Total Defence in their own ways, big or small.

N.E.mation! 8 attracted the participation of 1,924 students who formed 552 teams and submitted 913 story ideas this year. Since the competition’s launch in 2007, N.E.mation! has seen more than 11,500 students take part.

No prior experience in animation production was required for students to join in the competition, as they are provided with training in animation content development. The top 10 finalists' animation clips were screened in cinemas and on free-to-air television channels.

The top 10 clips, created by teams from seven schools, comprise a mix of serious and light-hearted stories produced creatively using a variety of mediums. The table below provides a summary of these clips and the teams behind them.
