Commanding General of the US Army Pacific Calls on Minister for Defence

Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC), Lieutenant-General (LTG) Francis J. Wiercinski, called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence this afternoon. LTG Wiercinski, who is in Singapore on an introductory visit from 17 to 19 February 2013, had earlier called on Chief of Army Major-General Ravinder Singh after inspecting a Guard of Honour.

Earlier today, LTG Wiercinski spoke to the officers of the 44th Command and Staff Course at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College on "Rebalancing in the Asia-Pacific". LTG Wiercinski will also be visiting the Murai Urban Training Facility later today.

LTG Wiercinski's visit underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and the United States. The Singapore Army and the USARPAC interact regularly through professional exchanges, courses visits, and exercises such as Exercise Tiger Balm. These interactions have enhanced the professionalism and interoperability of the two armies, and strengthened the mutual understanding and friendship between their personnel.
