Singapore’s Digital and Intelligence Service Participates in Multilateral Cyber Defence Exercise

 

 

The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) participated in the fourth edition of Defence Cyber Marvel (DCM4), a multilateral cyber defence exercise conducted by the British Army Cyber Association. This year’s exercise, held from 24 to 28 February 2025 in Seoul, South Korea, saw the participation of over 1000 personnel from 27 nations. 

The DIS’s Cyber Defence Group (CDG), together with its British Army counterparts, participated remotely from Singapore in a combined cyber defence team. DCM4 which featured a series of complex, scenario-based challenges designed to test the team’s abilities in identifying and mitigating simulated cyber-attacks, in a realistic operational environment.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Mok Chuan-Hao, Commander CDG, said, “Our cyber defenders displayed a high level of professionalism and competency throughout the exercise. This exercise was also a valuable opportunity to benchmark best practices and learn from our British counterparts, gleaning insights that will help us grow further.” 

Sharing the same sentiment, Captain Andy Humphrys, Team Lead from the British Armed Forces said, “I was very impressed with how the DIS team displayed a high level of technical competency, professionalism and expertise during the exercise, and definitely complemented and worked very well with the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence team.”

The DIS has participated in DCM since 2024, highlighting the growing importance of cybersecurity in modern military operations. DCM brings together cyber defenders from armed forces, government agencies and industry partners to learn, share best practices and strengthen collective cybersecurity capabilities in an evolving digital threat landscape. The DIS’s participation in this exercise with the British Armed Forces, underscores the warm and long-standing bilateral defence relations between Singapore and the United Kingdom.
