Fact Sheet: Commitment to Defence Ambassadors Programme

A total of 72 Commitment to Defence (C2D) Ambassadors have been appointed for a two-year term at the C2D Ambassadors appreciation and appointment ceremony held this afternoon. Of the 72 C2D Ambassadors, 20 were newly appointed with experiences in overseas peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, Konfrontasi and the 1964 racial riots. The remaining 52 were existing C2D Ambassadors reappointed for a new term.

During the ceremony, Chief of Army Major-General Melvyn Ong presented tokens of appreciation to the C2D Ambassadors who have volunteered their time and effort to engage youths over the past one to two years, and handed appointment letters to the new and reappointed C2D Ambassadors.

The C2D Ambassadors comprise primarily Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) veterans and NSmen who have served with distinction in their military careers, lived through significant historical events, and/or participated in key military operations.

Since the start of the C2D Ambassadors programme in early 2015, more than 27,000 students and servicemen have been engaged. At these sharing sessions, the C2D Ambassadors share their personal stories and experiences, including first-hand insights into key episodes of Singapore's history and military operations, and hold lively discussions to inspire the students and servicemen to play their part in keeping Singapore strong.
