Did you read the newspaper story about the specially designed spectacles for SAF personnel? The SAF and the Singapore Optometric Association worked together to come up with specs designed for with the soldier, sailor and airman in mind - light, durable frames and anti-UV and shatter-resistant lenses. They also come in deep blue or a pixelised design!
We've gotten some queries on whether these specs are compulsory. Well, no, they're not compulsory. SAF's just trying to give soldiers a bit more variety when selecting spectacles for training. :)
If you're keen to get a pair, you can get them at the SAF Vision Performance Centre in the Military Medicine Institute (MMI) as well as participating Singapore Optometric Association member outlets (check out http://www.optometrists.org.sg for the list of outlets).
