The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Formidable-class Frigate RSS Stalwart is participating in the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN)'s International Fleet Review (IFR) from 10 to 15 October in Jeju Naval Base in South Korea. RSS Stalwart joined more than 30 ships and 20 aircraft from 47 countries to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces.

RSS Stalwart was part of the fleet reviewed by ROK President Moon Jae-in on 11 October, which comprised ships from 12 countries¹. During the IFR, Commanding Officer of RSS Stalwart, Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Li highlighted how the review will strengthen ties among participating navies. He said, "The IFR was a good opportunity to interact with navies from around the world. These exchanges enhance our relationship for greater cooperation on maritime issues. RSS Stalwart is glad to be able to further our friendship with the ROKN."

Held in conjunction with the IFR, the 16th Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) is conducted today. Chief of Staff-Naval Staff Rear-Admiral Timothy Lo attended the WPNS. The WPNS is a series of biennial meetings between the navies of Pacific nations on maritime issues.

The RSN and ROKN interact regularly through professional exchanges, visits and courses, and have cooperated in the multinational counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden. These interactions have enhanced the mutual understanding and friendship between personnel of both navies.
