Senior Minister of State for Defence Mr Zaqy Mohamad hosted His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam, to a visit at RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base this morning. Also present were Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II of Brunei Darussalam Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister of Education of Brunei Darussalam Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei Darussalam Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office of Singapore and Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Aaron Beng as well as senior officials from Singapore and Brunei.

During the visit, His Royal Highness sailed on board the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Littoral Mission Vessel (LMV) RSS Sovereignty. The RSN demonstrated how it worked closely with other national agencies such as the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force, to tackle maritime security threats and incidents in Singapore waters. His Royal Highness was also briefed on the operational roles and capabilities of the LMVs.

His Royal Highness is in Singapore on an official visit from 3 August to 5 August 2022 at the invitation of Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr Teo Chee Hean for the 8th Singapore-Brunei Young Leaders' Programme. His Royal Highness' visit to RSS Singapura – Changi Naval Base underscores the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and Brunei forged since 1976. The Singapore Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces interact regularly through a wide range of activities, such as bilateral exercises, cross-attendance of courses, visits and professional exchanges. Such interactions have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability, and have also built strong rapport and camaraderie among the personnel of the two armed forces.
