DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY PRIZE

The Defence Technology Prize (DTP) recognises outstanding contributions in the areas of defence science and technology that have significantly enhanced Singapore's defence capabilities and is a prestigious accolade awarded by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). Organised by MINDEF's Future Systems & Technology Directorate (FSTD), the DTP is awarded annually to foster and encourage defence technological innovation and excellence amongst scientists and engineers.

NOMINATIONS

Award Categories

There are two categories of awards to recognise the wide range and diverse nature of contributions to Singapore's defence technology capability:

1) The Defence Technology Prize (Research and Development) Award is presented to individuals/teams for distinguished achievements in pioneering innovative R&D for Singapore's defence.

2) The Defence Technology Prize (Engineering) Award is presented to individuals/teams for outstanding contributions in the delivery of breakthrough engineering solutions and systems integration work in MINDEF's acquisition programmes.


Judging Criteria

The Judging Panel is chaired by MINDEF's Chief Defence Scientist, and award winners will be announced upon approval by the Minister for Defence.

Eligibility

All individuals or teams who have made significant technological contributions to the defence capabilities of Singapore are eligible to be nominated for the DTP award.

A nominated team may comprise members from different organisations.


Nomination Period

Nomination for DTP 2018 is now open till 22nd Apr 18.

No changes to the nomination will be accepted once the nomination period is over.


Nomination Process

All nominations must be submitted using the prescribed forms as indicated in Appendices A and B of the Nomination Form.

The form can be downloaded in two formats - Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.

For nomination forms containing classified information, please label the form with the appropriate security classification.

The completed form shall be returned to the following address (For UNCLASSIFIED submissions only):

AWARD WINNER

Defence Technology Prize 2018 Roll of Honour

The Defence Technology Prize (DTP) is awarded to foster and encourage technological innovation and excellence amongst scientists and engineers by giving recognition to outstanding technological contributions to Singapore's defence capability. Established in 1989, this national prize is awarded annually to individuals or teams who have made significant technological contribution to the defence capability of Singapore. The prize consists of a crystal trophy and a certificate.


Individual

The Individual (R&D) award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in pioneering innovative defence R&D for Singapore. These individuals have also established themselves as leading authorities in a critical area of defence technology.

The Individual (Engineering) award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in pioneering innovative defence engineering for Singapore. These individuals have also established themselves as leading authorities in a critical area of defence technology.


Team

The Team (R&D) Award is presented to teams for their outstanding accomplishments in research and development to enhance the defence capabilities of Singapore.

The Team (Engineering) Award is presented to teams for their outstanding achievements in the delivery of highly complex engineering solutions and integrated systems in MINDEF's acquisition programmes.
