Fact Sheet: Battlefield Management System (BMS)

The Battlefield Management System (BMS) was developed to empower and bring the capability of the network to commanders at the frontline. It enhances commanders' situational awareness by networking forces into the wider army and SAF systems, thereby improving combat effectiveness.

Situation Awareness. Blue Force Tracker gives accurate and automatic information about our force's position. It coordinates the location of units through the exchanging of positional information via the network. The positions are updated constantly to provide continuous assessment of own and enemy forces location. The Blue Force Tracker enhances our commanders' situation awareness and thereby significantly reduces the risk of collateral damage.

Combat Effectiveness. The BMS includes linkages to sensors and shooters. This facilitates our ground forces to operate on-the-move and act decisively in a tactical situation through near-real-time sensor-shoot response. In a few simple steps, the timely information delivered by the sensors enable our commanders to direct the shooters that are linked by the BMS to deliver precision fires onto enemy positions. This provides our commanders the tactical advantage of being able to act fast and thereby enhancing our combat effectiveness.
