Inauguration of the SAF C4I Community

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen officiated at the inauguration of the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF's) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) Community at Pasir Laba Camp this afternoon. Also present at the parade were Minister of State for Defence and Education Lawrence Wong, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Neo Kian Hong, Service Chiefs, and senior officers of the SAF.

Speaking at the inauguration parade, Dr Ng highlighted the importance of bringing the various C4I entities across the SAF together into a community, with the mission to support and grow the networks that provide the SAF with its edge in information superiority. He explained, "The complexity of the modern battlefield will place more exacting and challenging demands on the 3rd Generation SAF. Our land, maritime and air forces will need to seamlessly tap on each other's capabilities and further shorten the sense-to-strike cycle". Dr Ng added, "The strength of the C4I community is derived from the knowledge and operational expertise of its people.

Your professionalism, diligence and perseverance will be critical in building up a potent and effective community that should aspire to be among the best in the world".
The inauguration of the C4I Community marks a key milestone in the 3rd Generation SAF's transformation into a networked and knowledge enabled force. The C4I community will be primarily responsible for developing the professional competencies, expertise and knowledge of the C4I practitioners under its charge.
