MMI

Military Medicine Institute was established on 1st December 1997, with the aim of having a one-stop specialist outpatient centre where SAF servicemen can access specialised healthcare. The one-stop centre cuts down downtime from training and deployment of servicemen, and provides them with holistic management of their medical disposition needs.

Military Medicine Institute also provided policy guidance for medical policies and provide primary healthcare and medical training for the SAF. Military Medicine Institute’s responsibilities also include co-ordinating collaborative projects with other healthcare organisations in Singapore.

In December 2003, MMI was also set up in DSO (Kent Ridge) to provide specialist medical services.

In November 2019, Military Medicine Institute was restructured, with medical policy formulation transferred to HQMC, allowing better focus on medical service delivery on the ground. Military Medicine Institute was renamed to MMI to better reflect the unit's function of providing healthcare. MMI has retained the association of quality healthcare provided to the SAF. MMI currently undertakes primary and specialist healthcare needs for the SAF with its medical, dental centres and specialists’ health clinics, focusing to deliver quality healthcare across the SAF camps.
