“I am happy that I can contribute even though I am in a Combat Service Support (CSS) vocation. The training that we undergo and the tasks we perform may be different but we are all contributing to the Army in our own ways, and our roles are just as important.”
Beginning his National Service (NS) journey at Basic Military Training Centre School V (BMTC Sch V), CFC William Seah Wei Qi, currently an Ambulance Transport Operator (TO) from Transport Hub West, gives us a glimpse into how he trains to stay ready to contribute to the Army.
“When I enlisted, I strove to do my best, taking these two years as learning opportunities instead of meaninglessly spending my time here. Through my training at BMTC Sch V, I learnt to adapt to different situations and work with people from different walks of life.”

Following his training at BMTC Sch V, CFC Seah then underwent training to be a TO, before being given the responsibility of an Ambulance TO. Required to be on standby to perform evacuation of casualties in emergency and non-emergency situations, CFC Seah recounted his first time being involved in an evacuation.
“Around 2200hrs that night, I was activated to pick up a serviceman to bring him back to the medical centre. It was my first time evacuating a case out and I was impressed by the strong teamwork and bond within the team. It was a very memorable experience for me.”

Despite being PES E due to his Body Mass Index (BMI), CFC Seah maintains a positive attitude and remains motivated to perform his duties to the best of his ability.
“My main motivation comes from the camaraderie I have with my friends in the unit and my superiors, whom I have learnt extensively from. I am especially grateful to MSG Aidil Adli, 1SG Shukri, 1SG Bernard and 3SG Kevin Bong for their guidance when I first came into Pasir Laba Camp. Whenever I am facing any problems or have any doubts, they are always willing to lend a helping hand. The support from my family plays a huge role as well.”

Thank you CFC Seah for your service!
